彷彿在電影裡才會看見的橋段。直到真正走進黃大仙祠、站在鵝頸橋下，才發現這些看似神秘的儀 式，其實就是香港人的日常。有人來求事業、有人求姻緣，也有人花一百港幣打一場「小人」，替生活裡累積的不滿找一個出口。
The kind of thing that seems like it belongs in a film, until you're actually standing inside it. Wong Tai Sin Temple and the space under Goose Neck Bridge are two places where what looks like ritual from the outside turns out to be something much more ordinary: people trying to manage uncertainty, clear bad luck, or simply find a moment of stillness in a city that doesn't offer many. Some come to pray for work or relationships. Some spend HKD$100 having a paper effigy beaten with a slipper on their behalf. Both of these things are completely normal here.

我們原本也想體驗求籤，但研究後才發現，完整流程並沒有想像中簡單。

2.說明自己的姓名、出生年月日與祈求事項。
3.抽取籤枝。

5.若願望實現，需再次回來還願。
也因為後續還願程序較複雜些，我們最後沒有實際求籤。
如果只是想感受文化氛圍，其實單純參拜、欣賞建築與庭園，已經很值得！

4. Bring the numbered stick to a fortune teller for interpretation
5. If the wish is granted, return to fulfill your vow
The vow-fulfillment requirement made us hesitate, and we ended up not going through the full process. For anyone who wants to experience the atmosphere without the commitment, walking the grounds, observing the architecture, and standing in the incense smoke for a while is already worthwhile.

If Wong Tai Sin is about asking for something, da siu yan is about clearing something out. Under Goose Neck Bridge in Causeway Bay, a group of women work daily performing this ritual for anyone who comes. The "villain" in da siu yan doesn't have to be a specific person. It can represent a workplace obstacle, a stretch of bad luck, a difficult relationship, or simply the accumulated pressure of recent weeks. The ritual is a way of driving out whatever has been accumulating, and marking a fresh start.

Goose Neck Bridge became the most recognised location for this ritual partly through feng shui tradition: the space beneath the flyover is considered to carry a particular kind of energy. The practice also became associated with Jingzhe, the third solar term in the traditional Chinese calendar, when the ritual of appeasing the White Tiger developed alongside da siu yan. Over time, the two practices merged and the location became fixed.

You don't need to initiate. The moment we approached, one of the women had already made eye contact with Jack. "Handsome, want da siu yan?"

The whole process took a few minutes. The woman recited incantations while striking a paper effigy with a slipper, then moved through the burning of joss paper and the ritual of appeasing the White Tiger, all in one continuous sequence. We couldn't follow the words, but standing under the flyover listening to the rhythm of the slipper against the ground, watching the joss paper burn, the atmosphere, somewhere between religion, folk tradition, and street culture, felt entirely specific to Hong Kong.

很多人來香港，只會想到維多利亞港、太平山夜景或迪士尼。但也不能錯過黃大仙祠以及鵝頸橋下那一聲聲拖鞋拍打紙人的節奏。香港的宗教文化是人們面對生活壓力時，一種很真實的情緒寄託。有人來求一個方向，有人來求一份安心，也有人只是想把最近累積的不順利留在橋底。或許，宗教與民俗真正存在的意義，從來不是迷信，而是在快速運轉的城市裡，替每一個努力生活的人，保留一個可以停下來、重新出發的地方。
Most people visiting Hong Kong think of Victoria Harbour, the Peak at night, or Disneyland. Wong Tai Sin Temple and the space under Goose Neck Bridge offer something different: a way into how the city actually holds itself together.
Hong Kong's folk and religious traditions are a genuine emotional infrastructure, not a tourist exhibit. People come to ask for direction, to seek steadiness, or to leave whatever has been weighing on them under a flyover in Causeway Bay. What these places offer isn't superstition. In a city that moves as fast as this one, they're somewhere to stop, set something down, and start again. That's not a small thing.
